Aimed at primary 6 and 7 pupils, these workshops are for those who have not yet started or have not long started their period. It provides an introduction to anatomy, why and how our body changes, what a ‘normal’ period looks like, cycle tracking, period products and how to use them (with a focus on sustainability) and who to talk to if you are worried about your period. We can also provide free period products and attendance at a parental event.
These fully personalised workshops focus more on holistic health and are differentiated depending on whether they are delivered to broad general education and/or senior phase pupils, these workshops have more of a focus on how you can be prepared during your whole menstrual cycle, learning about ovulation and pregnancy prevention, learning about some common period problems, as well as self-care during the entire menstrual cycle. It also covers how to seek support and where you can find support. We can also provide free period products and attendance at parental events
These workshops can be differentiated for broad general education and senior phase aged pupils. These focus on developing a values system, boundaries and safe/unsafe relationships, they also look at consent, contraceptive options and how different substances may impact our ability to consent. We can also add in information about menstrual wellbeing, as evidence suggests that knowledge and understanding of the menstrual cycle can lead to improved self esteem, less risky sexual behaviour and safer sex choices.
We can offer personalised workshops for those with ASN, including autistic individuals or those with sensory processing disorder. These typically contain a lot less information, focus on independence and have more practical/sensory elements.
As part of our workshops on primary and secondary menstrual health awareness/education, we provide teaching packs to be used with those who don't have periods. This is to provide a similar standard of education and because we believe that it is paramount that every individual learn about periods and their impact, in some way.
